What counts as a open source tool
Projects with a public repository and an OSI-approved license. ProductPerch checks the repository through the GitHub API and shows stars, license, language and the last commit on every page. Typical launches in this category include a self-hostable alternative to a SaaS, a library or framework, a CLI on GitHub, an open-source app. Most of the people browsing it are people who want software they can inspect, fork or self-host.
How these open source tools are ranked
“Best” here means most upvoted by ProductPerch members, not chosen by an editor or paid for. Each open source tool launches on a fixed UTC day, competes with the other launches of that day, and keeps the upvotes it collected. The Top voted tab sorts by those upvotes; Newest sorts by launch date so you can see what arrived this week. Every card shows the pricing model and, for open-source projects, GitHub stars.

Questions about open source tools
Where can I find new open source tools?
This page lists every open source product launched on ProductPerch, ranked by upvotes from signed-in members or sorted by launch date. New open source tools appear here from their launch day, and the daily digest email lists each day’s launches.
How do I launch my open source product here?
Submit your URL on the submit page and choose Open Source as the category. A free launch takes the next open day; a paid launch lets you pick the date. Either way your product is ranked only by upvotes.
Are the open source tools on this list sponsored?
The order is by upvotes only. Products that paid for their launch carry a Featured label on lists; the homepage Featured column is labelled Sponsored. Paying never changes rank.
Which open source tools are open source?
Products with a verified public GitHub repository and an OSI license show an Open source label, the star count, the license and the date of the last commit. You can also browse the Open Source category directly.
