Product Hunt alternatives for indie makers

Published 11 October 2026 by the ProductPerch team · Facts checked on the sources below on 11 October 2026

Product Hunt is free and huge, but a small product can disappear among hundreds of launches, and its outbound links are not dofollow. These Product Hunt alternatives launch fewer products a day or a week, and most of them sell a faster or more visible launch. Here is what each one actually offers, read from their own pages on 11 October 2026.

Product Hunt alternatives at a glance

The table compares eight launch platforms on the questions makers ask most: when you can launch, what it costs, what kind of link you get, and whether paying changes the ranking. Product Hunt itself is included as the baseline. Each fact comes from the platform’s own pricing, FAQ or terms page, except Product Hunt, whose pages blocked our reader; its column comes from SaaSCity’s check of the live pages.

Why makers look for Product Hunt alternatives

Product Hunt alternatives exist because the original is crowded. On Hacker News, makers describe it as “pay-to-win” and say solo makers without a network struggle to be seen (Show HN thread, April 2025). A Peerlist founder wrote that a later Product of the Day brought “only 10% of the traffic as of 2022” (HN, October 2024). Fake upvotes are the other complaint: one maker described a #2 Product of the Day whose 500+ upvotes were all sock-puppet accounts (HN, March 2022). And for SEO, Product Hunt’s visit links carry rel="ugc", so they are not dofollow, according to SaaSCity’s check.

The alternatives answer with smaller daily or weekly batches, conditional dofollow links and paid options. But many introduce problems of their own: long free queues that push you towards paying, and paid launches that get better positions in the ranking.

The main alternatives in more detail

Uneed

Uneed launches every day at midnight Pacific time: “at least 30 free launches from the waiting line, plus every paid launch”. The free line puts you 30 days to 5 months out, and you need an upvote score of 10 to stay published and 20 for a dofollow link. The $14.99 fast-track gives a slot about 14 days out; $29.99 lets you pick the exact date with a dofollow link for life. It publishes its anti-cheat rule clearly: votes from batches of accounts or one IP address are removed. Its Pro membership adds vote multipliers, which lets paying members weigh more.

TinyLaunch

TinyLaunch runs weekly cohorts that start on Mondays; we counted about 380 products in the current week’s cohort. Free launches wait about 4 weeks. The $39 Premium launch moves you to next Monday, guarantees a backlink and is “frequently showcased between 3rd and 4th place”. Its terms say launches can be cancelled for upvote tampering.

Fazier, Twelve Tools and DevHunt

Fazier and Twelve Tools both give free listings a dofollow link in exchange for a backlink to them on your homepage or footer; their paid plans ($29 and $36) remove that requirement. DevHunt focuses on developer tools: free tools wait for a launch week, links on free listings are nofollow, and a $19 paid launch picks the week, adds a newsletter spot and makes the link dofollow. You must sign in with GitHub or Google to vote.

MicroLaunch and BetaList

MicroLaunch runs a monthly cohort with a 30-day campaign and sells date choice and boosts from $39. BetaList now charges for every submission and refunds automatically if a product is not selected, according to its FAQ.

How ProductPerch differs

We built ProductPerch to keep the useful parts and drop the rest. Each UTC day has 12 free launch slots, 3 of them for open-source projects, and the date is shown before you confirm. Ranking is by upvotes only, one per account, with fake votes removed before results freeze; a paid launch is labelled Featured and gets no boost. The link rule is published and the page source follows it: dofollow for paid launches, verified open source, the daily top 3, and free launches with our badge; nofollow otherwise. See the pricing table or submit your product.

How to choose

If you need a specific date, pay for it on one platform rather than waiting months on several. If you want SEO value, read the live page of a listing before paying and check its rel attribute; the dofollow directories guide shows how. If you build developer tools or open source, prefer platforms whose audience is developers. And plan the launch as a sequence rather than a single day: our guide on where to launch your SaaS lays one out.

Questions people ask

What is the best Product Hunt alternative for a small indie product?

One where your launch is not one of hundreds that day and where the free tier is not a months-long queue. Daily platforms with a slot cap (ProductPerch, Uneed’s paid tiers, Twelve Tools) or weekly ones like DevHunt for developer tools give a small product more attention than a feed with no limit.

Is there a free Product Hunt alternative with dofollow links?

Several give free dofollow links under conditions: ProductPerch for open-source projects, the daily top 3 or with a badge; Uneed from 20 upvotes; Twelve Tools and Fazier in exchange for a backlink from your site. Product Hunt’s own links are not dofollow.

Is Uneed or TinyLaunch worth paying for?

It depends on whether you need the date. Uneed’s $29.99 option picks an exact date and keeps a dofollow link; TinyLaunch’s $39 Premium moves you to next Monday and shows you between 3rd and 4th place. Neither guarantees traffic, and both treat paid launches differently from free ones in the ranking or display.

Should I still launch on Product Hunt?

Often yes, as one step of a launch. It is free and has the largest audience; just plan for heavy competition and do not count on its link for SEO.
